Support a Cleaner East 125th Street

Are you tired of the way the east side of 125th Street looks?

The New Harlem East Merchants Associations' current mission is to improve the appearance and image of the east section of 125th, 124th & 126th Streets and to make a "Shopping Destination" for neighborhood residents, Metro North travelers, and office workers in the area. Making the shopping and pedestrian experience a more pleasant, we will also increase sales volume, grow our businesses, and the local economy. NHEMA's first official event since incorporation was "Operation Clean UP" which involved a combination of 60 volunteers and shop owners who came together to clean the streets of; debris, paper, food containers, bottles, cigarette butts etc.. on the eastside of 125^th. Over 50 bags of garbage were collected and our efforts were highlighted in the "Harlem News Group" publication.
NHEMA is seeking to expand our Operation Clean Up efforts with a more permanent solution. In partnership with a non-for-profit organization Ace New York, our goal is to have a permanent cleanup crew consisting of 6-8 men employed in the community daily by October 2013.
I am reaching out to the entire community to request a donation to fund our Permanent Cleanup Crew Initiative. Your donation will bring us closer to our goal of $75,000. Many business and community leaders are on board as well as hundreds of individuals and we already have a commitment for 50 % matching funds.
