Mirna's Vision Medical Procedure

Donation protected
After being rushed to the hospital for leaking blood vessels in her eyes, Mirna Iglesias was recently diagnosed with Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic Macular Edema. Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic Macular Edema are the most severe stages of diabetic retinopathy in which abnormal blood vessels arise from the normal blood vessels of the retina. After many years of untreated diabetes, the blood glucose becomes leaky, dilated, and cause retinal hemorrhaging and blurred vision. The abnormal blood vessels grow on the surface of the retina, they deposit and produce scars that can contract, pull on the retina, and detach it from the back of the eye, a condition called a traction retinal detachment. The ophthalmologist recommends laser photocoagulation to slow down the vision loss progression. The ophthalmologist told us that if she would have waited six more months for medical attention her vision would have completely deteriorated. She needs to have nine injections and three laser procedures per eye to close up the new leaking blood vessels that are forming in her eyes and causing her to become blind.  As her family we are reaching out to everyone to help us raise $15,000 to cover her medical expenses so that her vision can be restored. Any donation is greatly appreciated! Please keep her in your prayers.

With gratitude, Mirna and her family
