Mind the Gap

Mind the Gap, the budget gap that is.   The Trolley Museum of New York, a volunteer based non-profit organization, runs a historic trolley along the Kingston, NY, waterfront.   The museum depends on fares, gift shop sales and donations to sustain the operation, restoration and preservation of its collection of historic trolley and subway cars.  Please help the museum with a tax-deductible donation now!

Why is this important?  We bring back to life and preserve an important piece of history.  The trolleys and subways helped build and shape our cities as we know them today.  As you ride our trolley along the Kingston Waterfront, imagine what the streets looked like when your great-grandparents rode it.  When trolleys were first introduced in small towns across America, homes were still candle-lit, streets had gas lamps, and the horse and buggy were how you got around.  Later, trolleys shared the streets with the Model T and eventually other cars and buses.

Have you heard the phrase Mind the Gap before?  The London Underground subway system has used this for decades to warn people of the gap between the platform and the train, especially on curved platforms.  I thought it would be appropriate to bring attention to the Trolley Museum of New York budget gap!
