Please help support a beloved Prospect Hill Academy family who has just experienced a tragic loss of their home.
On the evening of Wednesday, February 25, 2015, the Mentor Family found themselves in a terrifying situation that no family should have to face-- their house was on fire. What started as a suspicious smell of smoke in the basement quickly became a two alarm fire. As soon as the family realized what was happening, they ran outside through the back and ended up trapped outside and barefoot in several feet of snow as flames engulfed their house- with nothing but the pajamas they were wearing. Thankfully, the fire department arrived in time to help ensure everyone was safely removed from the property unscathed. They are grateful that no one was hurt; however, they are having to start from scratch, as they have lost everything.
i am very proud to share that the teachers and staff of Prospect Hill Academy came together as a strong community and within 24 hours were able to deliver to their motel room over 15 bags of toiletries, games, snacks, and clothing- including several shirts, coats, sweaters, pants, socks and shoes for all six members of the family.
The Red Cross has supplied them with two nights in a motel, but as of Friday, the family is having to pay approximately $100 a night for this expense. Relieving the stress of this cost and helping this beautiful family rebuild their lives is something they would deeply appreciate.
