Support Local. Eat Local. Live Locally. Shaping Fort Bragg's Community Localization and Resilience. Hello World,
Thank you for coming to my fundraising page. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for thinking of Fort Bragg and our surrounding Community and wanting to help make that a better place.
My name is Lauren Vier.
I am trying to start a Local Economy Center for Fort Bragg.
Do you know what a Local Economy Center is?
Local Economy Centers are places where a new economy can be built. Local Economy Centers embrace new and old thinking about what it means to be a healthy resilient community and enables this positive vision to come to life.
For more on Local Economy Centers check out this page.

We need a more local economy, not just in Fort Bragg but everywhere, communities should focus on sustainability and having a local economy. Here is an article sharing the ideas of having a local economy.

The Mendocino Made Local will be Mendocino County's First Local Economy Center, consisting of a few parts as follows;
The Mendocino-Made Local Marketplace will feature 100% locally produced wares from Mendocino County, from jams to artwork, to furniture to toys.We will have Makers pay a small 10$ a month or 120$ a year membership fee that pays for space to showcase, Marketing and Advertising, as well as a small consignment fee.
Some future ideas we are considering are the following;
The Fort Bragg Share Space will be a Co-Work space as well as a rent-able conference room for local businesses to use. Co-workers would pay 100$ a month to be able to use to space, wi-fi, coffee and co-work facilities.
The Center for Heirloom Arts will be a independently run local center with locals teaching locals different skills such as homesteading, homemade goods skills and of course heirloom arts and crafts. Class fees would be determined by sponsor throwing class.Mendocino Made local would take a small percentage of class fees.
Our Vision:A Community that is Localized.
Our Pledge:The Pledge of Fort Bragg Local Economy Center is to preserve urban homesteading, heirloom arts and homemade goods in our geographical region to localize our community.
Mission Statements Mendocino Made Local: We locally source handmade goods for our perpetual mercantile to ensure an more generative community. One that promotes the value of goods produced from its own geographical region. We wish to instill in our next generation and more a larger appreciation of handmade goods, heirloom arts and the amazing art of urban homesteading.
The Center for Heirloom Arts will be an independent locally run center for locals to teach heirloom,homesteading and other "grandmother" arts to our community.

Overall our work reflects a commitment to this community of a living localism rather than consumptive consumerism.
CHALLENGES:

My challenges is not having any capitol or collateral for loans.
I am a low income mom with a HUGE dream of localization and community resilience that only needs the help from you to succeed.
If I got this pledge of 50,000$,
You would see results immediately from your contribution.
I would put down a few months rent on a downtown location and I would set myself to work creating the best community hub possible for Fort Bragg.
I am looking into localizing most all my supplies for store as in I will have all the signage and shelving made locally.
I will also use local artists for our dedication/donation Mural that would be on an inside wall of the store.
Your donation is going towards renovation of my space to include a state of the art Co-Work space and Fully supplied Center for Heirloom Arts.
I plan to take the donations from this Kickstarter to make our Local Economy Center into a ultimate destination for all things local and all our locals to come to and learn everything to be a better community.
Your donation will ensure a great space and design for the Made Local Marketplace with an up to date inventory system for the makers.
Your donation will ensure a solid footing for the mendocino Made local Marketplace to get started.
Your donation will go towards building a community place that we can all incubate on sustainability for our county.
Your donation will pay for living income for myself to run the store, OFF welfare.

Your donation can also pay your membership fee.
If you are a "Maker" in Mendocino County, Ca, You will be paying for one month Maker fees with a 10$ donation. Maker Membership is only 10$ a month.
If you would like to be a part of the co-work space your donation of $100 pays for a month of co-work services.
If you want to be a part of our time-share services your donation can pay for the membership for our TimeBank
