Help Students in Rural Nepal

Donation protected
Melamchi-Ghyang Secondary School is in Helambu, Sindhupalchok district, Nepal and has been in immediate need of feeding and relocating 286 students after the earthquake.

Melamchi is a public school located in an extremely remote area of Nepal and while many parts of
the country are in dire need of help, rural towns such as Helambu, have been cut off from mainstream assistance. The school is 9 hours outside of Katmandu and all roads leading to the school has been destroyed. There has only been limited help from the outside  orchestrated by a local residents.

The earthquake has completely made their school building and dorms uninhabitable. The 250 students and 16 staff members have been sleeping on open field since Saturday, close to the ruins of the school.

A few local NYC Himalayan people and friends are raising money to help with the most immediate needs, such as food, clothing and tents. We are working with local residents to transfer and funnel money and goods directly to the school. Please help by donating anything you can give.

For more information on the school please visit their website here:  http://www.melamchighyang.edu.np/

Please watch the latest video from Sindhupalchok. Thank you.
