Hi, I'm Matt.
I have a couple of challenges that make my life really difficult. Having a service dog would really help me integrate better into regular daily activities in a way that helps me feel safe and calm.
I have Asperger's Syndrome (sometimes known as high-functioning Autism) as well as PTSD - Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
This means that the daily things that most people can do with no problem cause me to have too much anxiety and I panic a lot.
When I really get too overwhelmed by life, I dissociate. That means that I am not mentally present, not able to pay attention to the world around me. I am numb to the world. This can cause lots of problems and put me in dangerous situations.
Sometimes leaving my house is too overwhelming for me to bear. Sometimes staying in my house is too much to bear. My life is very confusing for me and for my fiance who helps care for me when I am not able to care for myself.
Having a service dog would help me feel safe, happy, and calm. My dog would be able to help keep me aware of my surroundings without feeling overwhelmed and scared. It will help me be more independent. I might even be able to handle a small part-time job with the help of a service dog.
Please help me reach my goal of raising $10,000 so I can get the BEST dog in the world for me. It will change my life forever.
