I simply cannot believe that in ONE month online donations alone have reached nearly $45oo!!! This is truly a blessing and gift of love to the family of Matt O'Dell! As treatment continues i want to make you all aware of this weekends exciting INDOOR yard sale/bake sale to be located at the Sheridan Township Fire Department hall. (same place as the delicious and super successful spaghetti dinner!) COME ONE, COME ALL! This should be a day of laid back fun as well as simple sweets to be snapped up at a bargain. Lets DO THIS.
Please come and share a meal with us while helping continue to raise much needed funding for Matt and his family! Amie (Matt's sister) and Kelly (Matt's mother) along with a mariad of family and friends will be serving a delicious meal of spaghetti, caesar salad and garlic bread for only $7 per person. You wont want to miss out. :-) We are very much looking forward to seeing you all and embracing our extended family who have already done SO MUCH for us. With love, Missy
O'Dell/Wilder family reunion today and a change to celebrate being all together. Thank you, God for this day and this opportunity to love one another...to laugh and eat and play and catch up and make memories that will last forever. Pictures to come :-)

hello everyone and happy thursday! we are drawing closer to the end of another busy work week and ever closer to our overall goal of $5000 too! i just wanted to take a moment out of the day to thank you all for your kindness, your light, your extensive outreach and ministry of hope to this family. as i was reading through quotes today i felt inspired to share each of these above as they resonate deeply during this time. asking for help, especially financially is humbling business...but when i read your words on this site, or see a donation of any denomination or watch the site as it's shared via pinterest, email or facebook and KNOW that you all are working to make things happen in the life of this family it literally and figuratively lifts my spirit and fills my heart not with shame but gladness and PRIDE that we have found such souls on earth. you just get it, God bless you for that. we truly are not alone in this. much love! #yOURfightisOURfight #TEAMMATT
Thank you all for your graciousness and kind words as well as your financial support these last couple of weeks! We are getting closer to our goal every day. Lets keep the support going strong as the spaghetti dinner and bake/garage sale grow nearer...Last weekend we had the opportunity to share with News Channel 3 a small part of who Matt is and where he comes from. They were kind enough to put this link together and post the fundraising information on their website. Good things are happening everyday and we don't take a single opportunity for granted. Please continue prayers for strength as Matt goes through radiation while working full time and for Jamie as she provides care for Matt and Claire while working. http://www.wwmt.com/shared/news/features/top-stories/stories/wwmt_w-mich-veteran-now-battling-terminal-cancer-12490.shtml?fb_action_ids=4852371400269?wap=0
What an amazing outpouring of love and support you've shown this family...words cannot express our gratitude or convey the spark of hope you've ignited in each of us. Such wonderful things are happening; not only have we nearly hit the $2000 mark but due to word of mouth the family was also offered the opportunity to interview with News Channel 3 yesterday in order to get the word out about this website fundraising tool as well as the Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser put together by Matt's sister, Amie O'Dell and wife, Jamie O'Dell for Sunday, August 25th at the Sheridan Township Hall from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm. The cost is just $7 per person, children 4 and under eat free. Price includes Spaghetti, garlic bread, drink and ceasar salad. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE! Any funds raised will go directly back to the family to help meet medical insurance deductibles and copays as well as gas to and from daily treatments. If you have any questions about the dinner itself, please contact Amie via email at: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 517-937-5387. Again, thank you for your graciousness and generosity! We couldn't do this without your support. Blessed be! Missy
Hello, My name is Melissa (Missy) Sprouse and I am a cancer survivor. Recently my 23 year old maternal cousin, Matthew O'Dell was diagnosed with brainstem glioma. On August 2nd, Matt will begin radiation at U of M to prolong life as well as provide quality to his days but doctors are telling him that his condition is terminal. We are still praying for a miracle and know that we serve a God of miracles! Matt has, in his young life already served in the Marines for 4 years, active duty in both 2009 (Iraq) and 2011 (Afghanistan) and began as a cadet at Sheridan Township Fire Department at just 16 years old. Matt has survived losing his father to lung cancer, his brother to leukemia and his half sister to breast cancer. He was able to lend comfort as only another child can, during the loss of my mother to breast cancer then once again as a grown man when my twin passed away at in 2005 due to a tragic car accident. During my own cancer diagnosis, mastectomy and treatment at age 30 I remember Matt as always, a tower of strength and healing dry humor. Matt is now the proud husband to young professional and cancer survivor Jamie (Towery) O'Dell and father of sweet and energetic two year old, Claire O'Dell who's birth Matt had to miss as he was overseas. Matt is wise beyond his years, which is why his greatest wish is in knowing that his daughter and wife will be taken care of and provided for long after he is unable to do so himself as promised in his vows. It is the desire of my heart that you could facilitate this self-proclaimed wish by donating emergency financial assistance to aid the family in covering medical expenses and deductibles, mortgage payments, gas to and from 5-day a week treatments and allow for a cushion long term. It is my hope that this funding will provide Matt a peace that passes all understanding in the days to come so that he could spend this precious time with his family not worrying, but LIVING. Peace be with you, Melissa (Missy) Sprouse
