For the Fight of Liz Mobley

In April of this year, upon experiencing a sudden siezure, my terrified mother was rushed to the emergency room. After several weeks of testing, biopsies, and a flurry of painful and invasive procedures, she was finally diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor called Glioma. Emergency brain surgery soon followed.

While the doctors believe they got most of the mass, the location of the tumor, coupled with the severity of the surgery, left her with severe nerve damage, affecting the left side of her body and leaving her unable to walk or stand. While the doctors are unsure of her long-term prognosis or recovery, they do know she is in for a fight. I know that if anyone can win this battle she can, but in the mean time her short-term care plan involves multiple, debilitating, long-term therapies that take place, in many cases, more than 60 miles away from her home.

In an effort to help provide for support for her ongoing transportation, daytime care needs and increasing medical expenses, (and at the insistance of her many, many caring friends and loved ones who were interested in ways to help), family friends have organized a spaghetti dinner in her honor at the The Brown Hen Cafe in Florence, Oregon on Wednesday, July 15th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The dinner will also feature a silent auction and desserts and 100% of the proceeds will go towards the cost of her care. For more info about the event, please contact Daphne Hoerner-Fleming at [phone redacted] or R.S.V.P. on the dinner's event page here: http://on.fb.me/1flkUWe). If you are able to join us, please plan to make any contributions on site.

That said, for those unable to attend the event, or anyone interested in joining in on our efforts here as well, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your investment in our very special and worthwhile cause.

If you know my mother, you'll know that she has a smile that could light up a room, a laugh as big as the sky, and a heart of gold. Thank you all in advance for your love and generosity as we try to  keep her spirits high and support my mother in what is likely to be the toughest battle of her life.

Sincerely,
Phoebe
