When I think about my Aunty Linda I think about a woman who is selfless, determined, kind, loving, and impeccably charming. This Toni Morrison fanatic is the sunshine of our family. A good portion of her life has been spent taking car of her husband that's a Vietnam veteran and also a parpalegic. Now that Linda's had a stroke life has become much more difficult and additional stress has been added since her husband Lemoyne was hospitalized indefinitely.
In April 2015, my Aunty Linda had a stroke that paralyzed the right side of her body and hospitalized her for two months. The stroke came as a surprise because after battling diabetes for several years, this year she seemed stabilized. Last year, she began dialysis as a result of kidney failure due to diabetes, and was doing as well as to be expected. The stroke has left her with speech impairment, the use of one hand, and wheelchair bound and unable to do for herself, needing 24 hour nursing care, but unable to afford it; she is left alone far too often. After being transferred from the hospital to hospice, her insurance ran out after 90 days and now she’s left to figure out how to cover her home care expenses out of pocket. I have watched my Aunt give herself to countless organizations for the wellbeing of others.
My Aunty Linda is the kind of person that would give her last to someone in need. For everyone she’s touched, you know that her spirit is unique and undeniably loving. Linda is making progress, albeit slow, but the thing that's breaking her heart is that her disability income won’t cover a much needed in-home nurse and the health care insurance she has paid dearly for is failing her. So any sponsorship money raised will go towards Linda’s in-home medical care. Our family is grounded in prayer so I know God is with us. I started this Go FundMe account because my Aunt is in dire need right now. Like her, I still believe in people helping people in need.
