Hi Everybody!
I'm on a mission to raise $5,000 by March 30th for the completion of the Leimert Park People's Street Plaza...I need your help!
A Little About the Project...We've blocked off a portion of the street at 43rd Place and Degan in Leimert Park Village. So we've transformed the area into an amazing Plaza or as some are now calling it "Our Town Square".
Once completed, this space will be used for concerts, dance classes or art festivals. We'll also have patio furniture out there when the plaza is not being used for entertainment. You can meet up with your neighbors, bring your laptop and enjoy the African artwork that will be painted on the newly paved ground.
And...Wooden planter boxes will be filled with soil and seeds planted for growing fruits and vegetables which will be shared throughout the community.
This is your opportunity to help preserve the legacy of arts, culture and education that defines Leimert Park.
I plan to dedicate this $5,000 to the memory of Lark Galloway Gilliam, a resident of Leimert Park and one of my heros who fought tirelessly to create healthy living in South LA. She was a shining example of how to champion a cause with all your might for the good of future generations.
