~~Kendra's Study Abroad in Turkey~~

     I have an amazing opportunity to study abroad in Turkey with fellow healthcare students from MSU. I will be able to observe how Turkish culture influences healthcare delivery during different clinical experiences in general surgery, OB/GYN, gastroenterology, infectious disease, laboratory medicine, and pediatrics. I would like to extend my trip by backpacking across Europe and immersing myself into as many cultures as possible, before meeting up with my fellow classmates in Istanbul. I believe that this immersion is key towards my goal of gaining cultural competency and helping me become an open-minded physician. 

     The summer of 2015 will be the last real break that I will have until I graduate medical school in 2018 (and probably until after my residency and fellowship... an additional 6 years after that). Help me make this trip unforgettable! I will take the experiences from my studies and travels with me for the rest of my life and will use them to help better serve my patients in my future career as a physician.

     Plus, it would be nice to have this trip to reminisce and daydream about when I'm studying my life away for the boards =)
