My name is Jordyn Gaines Young and I am a 22 year old cake artist and the owner of JordyCakes Custom Cake & Cupcake Boutique! When I'm not baking and decorating cakes, or making and selling JordyJars and JordyShots at my shop I enjoy inspiring young people to find something they are passionate about and take that passion to the next level.
Last year I gave the first JordyCakes Follow Your Dream Scholarship at the annual scholarship program at my church, Trinity United Church of Christ. With your help, this year I would like to reach even more graduating high school seniors! My goal is to award at least 5 students throughout the Chicagoland area with Macbook computers to encourage them in their efforts to turn their passions into careers.
The JordyCakes Follow Your Dream Scholarship is a little different than most scholarships that require students to be at or close to the top of their class to even apply. This is due to the fact that when I was in high school, although my grades were pretty good, I was never a “super scholar”. However, I do not feel that my high school grade point average determined my ability to be successful.
I am blessed to have a platform which allows me to reach a wide range of people who can help me inspire young people who have a talent or gift that they want to pursue. Please partner with me to encourage these students to follow their dreams. Any amount you can spare will be greatly appreciated!
