Amber is a Psychology student and enthusiastic artist who loves to draw and dance
The need for English teachers in Asia and South-America is vast, so we decided to embark on a TEFL course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). Then we thought that this would not be good enough if we want to truly help people. We do not want to simply travel, we want to make a difference. We want to inspire young people all around the world to better their lives.
This project aims to teach children English though dance which will promote the values that dance encompasses. Dance encourages perseverance, equality, teamwork, self-confidence and self-worth. We want to bring these skills and values to the underprivileged children of Asia and South America.
Our purpose: developing language skills, creativity, imagination and cultural competence
We wanted to start funding small, to gather the essentials needed to make this idea successful in one country and then hopefully in the future to become a continuous project for us worldwide. We will start in China working within local schools to find children who will benefit the most from this project. Through weekly workshops within the local community we want to teach young people English through dance; Develop written English through story making and developing into dance; Develop spoken English through role play; Promote cultural competence through different styles of dance.
The money raised will be used directly for this project starting Summer 2016! If we go over our goal we will use this money to start this project in another country. To help us fulfill our vision, we need your help!
