Greetings cool cats and soul sistas!
As you know the heads who were a part of the poetry, music, and conscious communities circa 1990-1999 are coming together to celebrate our rich cultural shared history. Our event will be hosted at Vernon Park in Germantown on Saturday 9/13. What started out as a small gathering of the heads has turned into a huge highly anticipated soiree. We are seeking funds to cover the costs of the event. Any monies raised above and beyond event costs will go directly to Grassroots Community Foundation, a non profit organization founded by our brother Black Thought designed to help little girls grow up into strong women. We are also donating anything extra to the Black Writers Museum who is being very gracious in donating tons of stuff for our event and to the Friends of Vernon Park non profit organization for hosting our event and donating their resources.
The event will feature events and activities for the children, food vendors, music, and fun. We are also taking a commemorative photo of everyone who was a part of this awesome scene and then a pic of all of their children to preserve for posterity's sake.
Help us make this an EPIC event...the more donations we get the more we can do. Every single cent will be spent on the picnic or donated to a worthy cause so dig deep!! There has been a TON of interest in having a stage set up for screenings and performances and we can only achieve that if everyone digs in and makes a donation.
