IceFest 2015 Community Sculpture

Shortly after sculpting the statue of David, Michelangelo was asked by a local arts purveyor, awestruck by the majestic masterpiece, "How did you know to sculpt David? I just don’t understand…" by which, Michelangelo bluntly responded, “David was always there in the marble. I simply took away everything that was covering David up.”

Now, while we doubt there are many others who have the same artistic prowess as Mikey mentioned above - We are giving all patrons the opportunity to tap their inner Michelangelo and contribute to the sculpting of a city; a city encased in ice. Like marble, ice embodies this image, encompassing the future image by sealing it away, and awaiting a benefactor to expose the beauty within.  

Today, we are asking you to help us chisel away the excess permafrost that covers up our majestic Hamilton by contributing to a community Ice Sculpture for Icefest 2015. With a donation of $50 or more, you will help contribute to the creation of a beautiful piece of art, the subject of which will be decided by the community. The more money we raise the larger and more majestic the sculpture(s) will become.

All proceeds from IceFest go to the City of Sculpture, a nonprofit organization that encourages and supports the Michelangelos of today through the purchase and placement of permanent sculptures in Hamilton for the community’s enrichment and enjoyment.

The theme of IceFest 2015 is "Hamilton Goes Hollywood" so our community sculptures will be movie themed. Every benefactor will be emailed with an opportunity to weigh in on what movies our community sculpture(s) will be from. We will be letting the professionals decide the details thereafter. The more money we raise the larger and more numerous our community sculptures will become!
