With a growing young population on the IOS we are in need of a great space to PLAY! In addition, this kid centered meeting point would give families a great way to connect and get to know each other. So let's get started!
Some generous donors have agreed to MATCH 100% of the donations up to 10K for this new structure. So we are reaching out to the families of the Island to contribute whatever they can by SEPT 20TH. These funds will cover all costs of materials, installation and ground preparation. The deadline is firm so we can take advantage of the best deals before prices increase in October, so don't delay!
Here are some more details on what we are purchasing:
CedarWorks' (based in Rockport, ME) outdoor swing sets, are made exclusively from Northern White Cedar. This is the only wood species that meets our discriminating requirements for strength, long life, and no splinters without added chemicals. The swing sets are expected to last 20 years without any maintenance.
The playground will be installed next to the Tennis courts. The ground will be leveled this fall in preparation for installation next May. Wood chips willl be laid once the unit is installed.
