Help The Sea Lions Get a New Home

Help give these beautiful sea lions a new home, better health, and a happier life! SLEWTHS (Science, Learning & Exploration With The Help of Sea Lions) is a non-profit organization that cares for four rescued and unreleasable California sea lions in a cooperative environment that focuses on marine education and conservation programs. Our magnificent animals work hand-in-flipper cooperatively with our primarily volunteer staff to help provide marine education to thousands of students in the surrounding community, as well as across the United States! Over a ten year period, we have educated more than 6,000 K-12 students at our home facility, and together we have cleaned up over 3,000 pounds of trash off of our local beaches! In that same period, nearly 500 undergraduate students were mentored in their careers through our teaching aquarium, and over 15 research projects were conducted. Our programs were awarded the Governor's Environmental and Economics Leadership Award, and one of our sea lions was chosen to represent the United States as our official mascot at the World's Fair in Portugal! We have achieved all these amazing things not on our own, but with the help of our fabulous sea lion ambassadors. Each sea lion has their own unique personality, and they live pampered lives as stewards for the marine environment, where they receive personal attention and care 365 days a year. Now we are asking for your help to raise money for a new pool to improve their enclosures and their quality of life!


This new pool will be longer, wider, and deeper - providing improved water quality for the animals to frolic in and enjoy. Also, the new pool will finally allow us to build an improved enclosure with connecting decks between every pool in our facility, allowing the animals to have access to all pools at once. The animals' health and well-being is priority to us, and it is time for an upgrade from the temporary soft sided pool which they currently have access to. So far we have raised $5,000 of our $25,000 goal. All funds raised will help us purchase a high quality fiberglass pool and the variety of necessary construction supplies that comes along with a large undertaking such as this.
