Danissa Barrera Dircio is a transgender woman from Morelos, Mexico. She was detained over a month ago by ICE officers and placed in an all-male facility at Eloy Detention Center. In just the last year, LGBTQ migrants have suffered multiple instances of sexual, physical, and verbal abuse at Eloy.
Danissa was granted a bond of $8,500 but the judge gave her a deadline of the 1st of June to pay it. If she remains in detention she runs the risk of being deported to a country where she did not feel safe. Please support to free Danissa!
When she leaves detention Danissa dreams of going back to work as a cosmetologist and continuing to conquer her stage fright in performing in public. She hopes to spend time with her mother and become part of local efforts to support LGBTQ migrant community. But she needs your support! Please contribute anything you can. We will make it together.
