Help Ali's Recovery Journey

Donation protected
As many of you may know, my daughter, Ali,  is in recovery from a very serious eating disorder, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety, and numerous other health issues. She lived with Anorexia and Bulimia for 13 years. Eating disorders are the most fatal of all mental illnesses. They are extremely difficult to recover from, as food is necessary to live. A sufferer is confronted with their biggest trigger multiple times a day. Ali has almost 2 years of not engaging in her eating disorder, which is a true miracle!

Here is a little bit of the back story. Ali endured serious health issues, due to her disorder. She had to have a Subtotal Laparoscopic Gastrectomy, which involved removing half of her stomach. She went downhill from there. Her eating disorder exploded, and she was on the brink of suicide. Her physical and mental health were rapidly declining. I never want to see my daughter in that place again!

In 2015, Ali admitted herself into a residential treatment program. She stayed in that treatment center for almost two years. She went through every level of care that the center offered and never gave up.  About 4 months ago, she and her treatment team found she was ready to be discharged from the program.

Ali has put her all into her recovery and is thriving! Eating disorders are extremely different from other addictions. To maintain her recovery, she mustcontinue to see a therapist and dietician. Unfortunately, both clinicians she is currently seeing do not take insurance. Ali has worked with both individuals for over two years now.

It is not easy to find a clinician who specializes in eating disorders and follows the recovery philosophy that has worked for Ali. Therefore, it is vital that Ali continue to see both her therapist and her dietician to maintain her recovery.

The weekly cost for this is $135 per week. Neither myself or Ali can afford this anymore, but Ali's life depends on it! Her clinicians have continued seeing her, despite her inability to pay. She needs to pay what she owes, which is around 6 weeks’ worth of sessions. This totals $810, which is extremely overwhelming! She needs to be able to pay for further treatment as well, until her financial situation improves.

Ali strives to help others who have had similar experiences as herself. She is an activist for mental health awareness and educating others. The only way she can continue to live, and continue to help others... is to keep seeing the professionals who work for her. Anything will help, people, and we thank you all.

 Blessings,
