Help homeless veterans!

Tax deductible
Access Housing Inc. DC (AHI) provides housing and rehabilitative services to up to 98 homeless men and women veterans at a time. Each veteran has his or her own room. AHI was the first program of its kind in the greater DC area. Our veterans hail from all across this great nation. The one thing they all have in common is they served our country, fell on hard times and found themselves homeless.

AHI was founded in 1985 to empower these individuals to deal with the issues that made them homeless so they can move forward in life, having secured employment, and stable, permanent housing. To date, thousands of veterans have successfully returned to civilian life after going through AHI's program.

We love our veterans! AHI's oldest Board member is 92 and served on Omaha Beach during World War II. He was also in the Battle of the Bulge.

Our youngest resident to date was just 23 and served in the Afghanistan War.

One of AHI's veterans was a Navy pilot. He was a POW during the Vietnam War. He was held in captivity for 273 days until he was rescued by a US Marine. He received the Navy Cross, a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. Several of our veterans have distinguished service medals.

AHI offers a variety of services in one location: warm meals, dedicated social worker support, counseling services (employment, housing, mental health, substance abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder -PTSD, and Benefits support), referrals for dentistry, transportation services, a medical clinic, a barber shop/beauty salon, a food pantry, recreation services, a computer lab, and more.

You can help AHI's homeless veterans: We are raising funds to purchase eight new computers and software for our training lab. The lab is used by AHI residents to learn valuable skills, to search for employment, and to keep in touch with loved ones near and far. We want to purchase new models and key training software to help our veterans gain the competitive edge when looking for work. Your support can help improve the lives of those who served our country. Thank you in advance for considering supporting this effort! Please encourage those you know to do so too!
