Help me start The Tomorrow Club.

3 and 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with oral cancer. After moping and being bitter for a couple years, I decided to do something about it and try to give back because of my good fortune of being alive. Myself and some friends have started a charitable organization - The Tomorrow Club Inc. We are currently registered with the state of Ohio and are trying to raise money for applying for 501c3 status, as well as start up costs for obtaining a facility. Why start The Tomorrow Club? A little over 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with mouth cancer. I went from being (in my mind) invincible, to possibly dying from either cancer or the extensive surgery that was involved in removing the tumor. 2 years later, I am still kicking, albeit with a constant reminder of what I went through. I really never wanted to be a poster child for cancer survival. I would have much rather not had to deal with this.
I am very good at coming off like a very strong person. Everyone thinks I kicked cancer's ass. The truth is I struggle with the mental aspect of it daily. Some of the side affects from surgery are more of a nuisance than anything. Some cosmetic, some eating and drinking. The fear of cancer coming back really weighs on my mind. I have a lot of respect for people that can just get on with their lives. I am not that person. I always think , when will this be over?, and the reality is that it will never be over.
So, The Tomorrow Club. This will be my way of honoring those who have cancer, those that are kicking cancer's ass, and maybe prevent someone from getting cancer. This will be as much for myself as anyone. It will be a place to gather and celebrate life. In my mind, I really have accomplished very little in my life. This is my opportunity to give something positive to the world as thanks for my being around still, and maybe give someone who is about to go down the same road, hope for tomorrow.
We are starting this to directly help individuals. We are not going to cure cancer, but through education, possibly prevent the occurrence of cancer. With help from your donations we will be able to start fulfilling our mission. Our official mission is:
The Tomorrow Club is a charitable organization established for the purpose of educating and empowering individuals to make informed lifestyle choices conducive to reducing and preventing the incidence of cancer, while raising money for victims of malignant disease.
