Help Disabled Long Island Veteran

On September 11, 2001 Tywana Key was an administrative assistant from Long Island. Come September 12th, her life, as that of every American, was drastically different. Tywana recognized this and took action.
As a 27 year old wife and mother, she gave up her job on Long Island and joined the military, saying, "I felt a hole in me, I knew I had to get in a position to help people." Tywana served in uniform until she sustained an injury to her knee which forced her from the military.
Her dedication to serve did not stop there however. Tywana, now a mother of three, went back to school to better herself and provide for her family. After enrolling at Farmingdale State College to pursue her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Tywana took on a work study job at the college where she helped other veterans like herself transition out of the military and back into civilian life.
After spending two years working towards her degree and helping fellow veterans, Tywana was diagnosed with a degenerative arthritic condition in her neck and back. In order to get treatment for this condition, Tywana was forced to drop out of school. Because of this, she has now lost over twelve hundred dollars a month in income from her veterans education benefits, which have enabled her to go back to school and continue supporting her three children.
In recognition of Tywana's service to her country, and her continued service to other veterans, The Long Island Veterans Initiative at Farmingdale is conducting a fundraiser to help Tywana and her husband cover her medical expenses and feed their family while she is unable to work or use her benefits. With your help, we can raise enough money to help Tywana, whose dedication to her country and fellow veterans has never wavered.
