Ethiopia Medical Service Trip
Donation protected
We are medical students and members of the International Medicine Interest Group (IMIG) at Howard University College of Medicine. Since 2013, IMIG has organized a medical service trip to the University of Gondar Hospital in Gondar, Ethiopia. We began this in trip in 2013 with six students and expanded to 19 students last summer. This year we plan to take 14 students.
The goals of our trip include allowing a cultural exchange between our two universities, allowing our students to gain perspective on practicing medicine internationally, and providing an opportunity for students to experience Ethiopian culture.
IMIG is a completely student run organization and our trip to Ethiopia is entirely funded by students. We offset these costs (about $3,000 per student) through fundraising and from donations. We are excited for the relationships we have established in Ethiopia over the past 3 years and hope to make our trip a permanent fixture at Howard.
