GlobalPeace.Net Internet Project!

Donation protected

Please consider a contribution toward helping me formally establish GlobalPeace.Net, Inc. DBA The Global Peace Internet Foundation with a mission to help 501(c)3 and socially conscious organizations! Here's why:

My name is Joe Rinehart. I have an extensive career history on the Internet having authored the 1st commercial URL advertised in a computer magazine (Computer Shopper) back in 1993 (two years before the 'net became commercial).

I established the Internet domain config.com in Jan 1994 prior to CD-ROM disc's becoming standard in all computers by April '94, then later as competition grew and due to lack of funding, evolved to become an Internet Service Provider (ISP) company for the Portage county, Ohio communities which also developed and hosted websites.

By August of 2004, the company config.com I established hit it's peak sales and then it started to go downhill as Internet access migrated toward broadband cable and DSL. It proved impossible to compete with the big boy telephone and cable company ISP's!

In 2006 I tried to buy advertising in all the telephone phone books throughout the top 2/3's of the state of Ohio, the phone company's laid their 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 page ads surrounding my config.com advertising. We never got more than 5 calls in a month for DSL broadband so I knew the ISP ride we enjoyed was all but over.

By Nov. 2007, I found myself in the position of having to lay several employees and myself off, in order to keep the company alive! Largely due to hefty 5 year contracts with the telephone companies for too many phone lines that previously were used for dial-up access. Ironically, we managed to keep config.com alive to the present date by providing a focus on web site development, web hosting, and a contract from a large remote digital high school academy (5th largest in Ohio) that initially saved them over $40k in the first year. That contract was renewed automatically based on performance from Aug 2004 through Aug 2012 in favor of telephone company provided DSL.

Throughout my career, I have enjoyed the opportunity to help many 501(c)3 non-profits or socially conscious Internet projects! config.com managed to continue to provide heavily discounted web hosting and pro-bono development services through the worst of financial difficulties. However, it appears my passion of helping socially conscious and 501(c)3 Internet projects is coming to an end...

It is now the right time, I believe, that I must implement a plan that has always been in the back of my mind that would actually create and stimulate socially conscious job opportunities through a 501(c)3 that I've dreamed of establishing formally!

Since the high success factor has reversed itself during the past several years due to technical advances of competing access services, I've been working as an Internet e-commerce SEO/SEM consultant, ironically with several of config.com historical hosting clients. The "What if" socially conscious  reciprocal factor occurred to me, we could re-create our jobs, "doing good" in the process...much faster with public support, if the ideal proved to be a logical one!

There is much more to the config.com story which I'd be pleased to share upon request, but this plea for help is about what I've been dreaming of doing with the remainder of my career and I suspect strongly, in such a manner that will also benefit many others!

Here's the synopsis of my plan:

1. Establish the "Global Peace Internet Project" as a 501(c)3 with a mission of "Disseminating information for socially conscious or 501(c)3 corporations using website development, website hosting, Internet marketing consulting services, and all other legal activities".

2. Once established as a 501(c)3 non-profit, the Global Peace Internet Project would provide website development, in-house controlled web hosting and other Internet access related services. We already have several non-profits that we would initially assist and frankly, already are.

3. Re-develop the GlobalPeace.Net website to provide a database of non-profit organizations and various non-profit oriented marketing information. To create a grassroots membership organization designed to disseminate information.

4. I look forward to serving the Global Peace Internet Project as a working retirement dream job throughout the remainder of my life! I hope you'll give my Internet bandwagon ideal a little push and those that enjoy the concept of this dream, are welcome to jump aboard too ;)

Thank you so much for your consideration!

Best 'net regards,

Joe Rinehart
