Youth Birding Competition Georgia 2014

Donation protected
This year's 9th annual Youth Birding Competition in Georgia is fast approaching. Carl, Nikhil and Evan, first graders at Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia, will be competing as team "Crazy Cardinals".

The Georgia Youth Birding Competition is a great opportunity for the boys to learn about wildlife conservation, birds and nature. They have been meeting on weekends for several months to identify birds in the wild. They take their binoculars, birding books (specifically "The Sibley's Guide") and an appetite for knowledge into each hike they have taken. They have also been meeting after school once a week to learn about bird identification, calls and habitats. They have developed a deep understanding and love of birding.

This Friday (April 25-26, 2014), Team Crazy Cardinals will compete in the twenty-four hour birding event to identify as many birds as possible throughout the state of Georgia. They will be participating in the Primary School Division (pre-k-2nd grade).

During this busy time of learning the skill of birding, Team Crazy Cardinals is also working toward their hiking and wildlife conservation boy scout belt loops. In regards to wildlife conservation they are raising money through the birding competition to support the Georgia Wildlife Conservation Fund (http://www.georgiawildlife.com/node/338). Any amount donated through our team can be written off as a tax deduction and checks can be written to "Georgia Wildlife Conservation Fund." Please email me if you would like to donate a check or you can pledge your donation online.

Thank you in advance for your participation.
