Grant Ranch 2019 DI Team

The Prickly Pineapples, a group of sixth graders from Grant Ranch School in Denver, qualified for Global Finals at the Destination Imagination (DI) tournament. Global Finals is the DI international academic competition where we will compete against other teams, in our challenge, from around the world.  Our team competed in the Improv "Heads Up!" challenge which required our team to research historical figures found on coins from around the world. Once the research was complete, we had to create and present an improvisational skit (that included the historical figures we researched) in a tale that integrates an event that has an impact on the tale. We had to present the skit in two parts, changing between comedy and tragedy, and present the skit in two styles, changing from verbal to nonverbal.  We also competed in a unknown challenge, The Instant Challenge, where we had to solve a STEAM related problem in a given time frame. The challenge is kept a secret until you enter the room and must remain a secret until after Global Finals.  This year, Global Finals will take place in Kansas City, Missouri from May 22- May 25, 2019. We are responsible for our own fundraising and need help! We have multiple team members who will have an especially difficult time finding funds as we are coming from a Title 1 school. We would be very grateful for any monetary donation or sponsorship you are able to contribute.  Our fees will be $6,700 for our team to travel to Kansas City, MO from Denver, CO. We will be staying five nights at a hotel and will be responsible for our own meals, transportation and lodging, in addition to the event fee. Our registration is due May 1 so we need to act quickly with raising funds.  Our team would love to thank any and all donors.
