The world lost a passionate and feisty pioneer for women's sexual freedom and empowerment when Dell Williams died on March 11th the first feminist women's sexuality mail-order catalog and boutique in 1974 (evesgarden.com) and continued to advocate for women until she died -- "an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away" was her favorite saying!

As the New York Times described in her obituary, “[Dell] was consulted frequently by the news media on subjects including Valentine’s Day (“Using sex toys is fun, sensual and can bring a couple closer”); vibrators (“Even if it collects dust in your drawer, I say hold on to it”); and the furor around Britney Spears’s 2003 song “Touch of My Hand,” which celebrates female masturbation.”

Sadly, however, in her final years of life, Dell incurred substantial medical and personal debt as her health declined. Many good-hearted people and businesses deferred payment for consulting, medical and care-giving services with the agreement that they would be funded through the various fund-raising projects that had been initiated and continue to be developed after her death by “Friends of Dell”. This campaign is one of those.

We hope you’ll join us in continuing to honor Dell’s legacy in this very practical way. Any contribution you are able to make will be a big help.

We’d also love to have you join us for Dell’s Celebration of Life memorial service at 6pm on May 27, 2015 at the 4th Universalist Society, 160 Central Park West @76th Street, New York, NY 10023
