Dream Internship: Franklin Park Zoo

Tall, yellow grass dances in the wind as zebra graze while unbeknownst to them the camouflaged predators that stalk them silently. The sea of grass bristles sharply and the zebra glance around nervously, but along the horizon there appears to be no impending danger.  Any sound would alert the prey, so each step is placed in a precise location and without a sound. Timing is everything and the time is now.  Lunging from their camouflaged stake outs, four tawny lionesses work as team; two of them cause panic and chaos for the heard, while another attacks from the front in order to divide them further, and the last lioness catches the zebra...

I have been given an amazing opportunity that I would like all my friends and family to take part in.  I have been accepted into an internship program for animal care at the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, Massachusetts.  I will be working alongside zookeepers assisting with routine animal care, learning animal observations, diet preparations, behavioral enrichment, and veterinary procedures. One of the most amazing aspects of this internship is being able to work behind the scenes at the zoo and learning how to care for the animals I dream to work with in my future.  I say dream, but this internship will help take my dream of rehabilitating exotic animals into the wild and start to turn it into a possibility for my future.  I hope you will be able to feel my bleeding passion for exotic animals through this small passage of writing.
