Ryan was born with a heart problem. If he did any cardio or get his heart rate up it didn't know how to slow down in a timely Manner that was healthy. When his heart would beat over 200-270+ it was life threatening. He managed it very well, but it was getting in the way of his God given talent and drive for Track n field, High jumping, Long jumping and triple jumping. His cardiologist decided to do a surgical procedure on him at 16yrs old which was a gamble, he could do well with it or it could make it worse. Ryan agreed to have the surgery. After an extensive recovery Ryan Broke through the barrier of jr athlete achievement! His drive for the Sport of Track Field helped him Qualify for the Jr Olympic Games in 3 track meets!
But it was not easy at all for Ryan- he had no practice, or coach because he was home schooled without any equipment to practice mostly mats. When he would arrive to the competitions early so he could get his "practice" Ryan dominated with his Raw Talent of the High jump and long jump!
Ryan said I'm going to be at the jr Olympics this year. Ryan qualified for the Jr Olympic Games 2015 in 3 track meets! It was so exciting! But also stressful because his competitors were mostly seniors going into their freshman year of college with their coach at their side!
He beat out teams, kids that had coaches with them. He beat them all! We couldn't believe it! He did do what he said!
The Munford Tennessee Mayor, Dwayne Cole gave Ryan a Proclamation for his achievements and declared September 19, as Ryan "Feeling Froggy" Howard Day!
Help raise funds for Ryan today, for his training and jump mats, to compete in the Olympics! Thanks!
