Welcome Home Bags

With the end of a long deployment on the horizon, the USS San Francisco family is beginning to prepare for their loved ones to return. Part of this preparation is working to include the single sailors in the homecoming celebration. There are around 80 single sailors in the crew and about 30 of them will have no one to greet them on the pier the day of their return. The Family Readiness Group (FRG) will be working to fill drawstring bags - provided by the USO - for the 80 single sailors. The family and friends of the crew who live in San Diego have already begun to donate snacks, energy drinks and other various goodies to fill the bags. For those who live out of town, we know you would like to show your support, so we have set a goal: We would like to place a gift card for the Navy Exchange (NEX) in each bag. Given that there are 80 bags and our goal is $1200, we are looking to put a $15 gift card in each bag. If we do not reach our goal, we will lower the amount of the gift cards. If we go beyond our goal (let's do that!), remaining funds will go to support the work of our FRG. I know you all want to support these guys and thank them for a job well done.
