DO THE BIKE THING PT. 5! Bike Shop + Community Center!

Wecycle Atlanta has been really on a "ROLL" (Get it?).
We have been in our Bicycle Shop for 9 Months now and we've learned a lot while aiding youth to earn a lot (of bicycles). We didn't reach our summer goal of $40,000 to aid our youth and adult summer and after school programming so we are just going to just keep on pedalling! In assessing our summer, we have understood our need for a bicycle shop manager and a urban agriculture lesson facilitator at Wecycle Atlanta Inc. to truly embedd our W.H.E.E.L.S model (Work-Ethics, Health, Economics, Environment, Leadership, Sustainability) in the lifestyle of youth. Being able to fund someone through a stipend it would be the perfect scenerio. We've done most of the work you've read about with a budget less than $10,000, so just IMAGINE THE CHANGE that we could create with $40,000. We are gearing up for our Afterschool Programming were we will be engaging youth at the West End Park daily to guide them towards using the park as a place to engage in healthy activities with peers and ROLL MODELS. Donate Donate Donate! We can't do it without you. Come by our shop and see us in action. WE ARE THE REAL DEAL!

DO THE BIKE THING PT. 4! A New Reality!

What a summer it has been for Wecycle Atlanta! We've conducted our most successful Do The Bike Thing campaign, helped 225 youth in Atlanta get bicycles, mentioned in the Atlanta Journal Constitution for creating healthy communities, and much more! To think... we aren't even two years old yet!

We started this journey from a basement on Fountain Dr. and we've been operating out of homes ever since. The dream has been to create a central community bicycle hub to engage youth and residents in healthy living activities and lessons. After coming short of our $50,000 goal we had to think of a way to insure that those who supported our mission got a win, the best possible win,  a win for the community. With a little over $5,000 raised we decided to pivot our aspirations to be housed in a commercial building in the heart of West Atlanta into a mobile Boxcar unit. Though the plan would have allowed us to achieve our ultimate goal of bicycle shop, the project would take nearly a year to complete and we felt that the time for Wecycle Atlanta to go to the next level in servitude was NOW! The boxcar will still be a future project of Wecycle Atlanta and we have still managed to find the best possible win for the community and our supporters.

Ladies and gentlement, with great honor and pride, I'd like to announce to you that Wecycle Atlanta has signed the lease on its NEW BICYCLE SHOP in the West End located at 1124 Oak St! Our grand opening will be December 13th, 2014! Details to come! Thank you to all the supporters that made this happen. We will be taking our fundraising to another level starting November 1st to sustain our shop long-term and to hire staff! Get ready! #WecycleWondaLand is coming!

DO THE BIKE THING PT. 3! Wecycle's Boxcar Bikeshop!

Wecycle Atlanta is gearing up to create a bicycle shop out of a recycled boxcar! Yep! That's right! We are finally making our way out of that ol' garage on Fountain Dr. to a deluxe boxcar unit at Good Shepard Community Garden! Let's recap what Wecycle Atlanta has done just out of a garage:
- Hosted 4 Traffic Skills 101 courses for nearly 50 participants
- Run our 40 Hours and a Bike Program 4 times throughout the community including The AUC, The Harland Boys and Girls Club, and Ashview Heights
- Provided 75 Bicycles to participants in the 40 Hours and a Bike Program, 25 this summer!
-Revitalized the Historic Ashview Community Garden on the Belt-line

With a Bicycle Shop Wecycle Atlanta will be in a prime position to make an even greater impact on the community! Located by 2 Marta Stations, The Atlanta University Center, directly across the street from M. Agnes Jone Elementary, and a block away from the Boys and Girls Club we will be able to promote the life sustaining practice of cycling, and revitalize the community even More! Just think of all the youth and community members we can reach!

Help us raise the last $2,000 of fundraising goal to create the Boxcar Bike Shop! We've raised $5,000 with our IndieGogo campaign and to fully furnish and power our bicycle shop we only need $7,000! Support this risilient and innovative effort! #DoTheBikeThing!

**Funds from the fundraiser will support**
