Medical Alert Service Dog for David!

Donation protected

David is 21, has Autism, Apraxia, and autoimmune Type 1 Diabetes. Insulin is not a cure, it is Life Support and David requires around the clock care by his family to determine and calculate the proper amount of insulin he needs. He cannot speak, effectively communicate or direct his diabetes needs. He cannot tell us when he is dangerously low or high. He is not self aware of the symptoms and cannot appropriately ask for food, medicine, or help. Type 1 is life threatening and scary. 1-20 children and adults die from low (hypoglycemia) blood glucose and they Can speak, and wear a pump. They Can ask for help. His Autism and sensitive senses do not allow him to tolerate the infusion or adhesive of an insulin pump Or continuous glucose monitor. We must poke and test him over 10 times a day, around the clock. Especially while he is sleeping or He could have a seizure or worse. Many 1-20 type 1 diabetics die having no one to help them when they are hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic and thousands have been saved by glucose monitoring, pumps and service dogs. David requires 24/7 sight supervision and hourly blood glucose testing and treatment by injections in place of a pump. A specially trained Diabetic Service Dog that detects low blood sugar could save David's life as the dog would alert us to give David carbohydrates when hypoglycemic symptoms and scents are emitted. We could then treat David before he suffers a diabetic seizure, coma or death. He could sleep through the night without anxiety for his physical safety and so could we. Please assist us in getting David this life saving Diabetes Service Dog. If you would like to help David, please donate and please share with anyone who would be willing to help. God Bless.
