Furnishing Family Homeless Shelters

I help women and children transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing while they stay in temporary shelter apartments by providing cleaning services, sheets, blankets, comforters, bed pillows, towels, curtains, lamps, art, furniture and more. The services are free. I depend on community donations of furnishings and soft goods (bedding, towels, etc.) and need funding to purchase what isn't donated and store everything until needed, when a family moves out, taking the soft goods with them, and a new family is preparing to move in.

Storage is expensive, $232.12 per month for a 10x30 unit. I am hoping to raise enough to purchase and store needed items for one year. I have been paying for this myself for some time and can no longer do so, that is why I need your help!

Myself, and the volunteers who help me, support 42 shelter properties every year. We spend, on average, about $30 per property buying needed items that are not donated.

I pack and transport everything to the shelter apartments in my 2001 Ford F250 crew cab. Gas costs are also an issue, about $100.00 per month, at least.

I am a survivor of domestic violence. I was a single mother for a number of years and my son is now grown. I want to continue to give back and help women and children who need help but, I can't do it without money. Please donate whatever you can!
