Help Me Help Deaf Kids In Guatemala

Hello! My name is Monica Hood. I am raising money for a mission trip this summer from August 4th - August 18 to work with the Deaf in Guatemala. 

Just imagine growing up without a way to communicate with the people around you. This is the reality for many of the deaf especially those in Guatemala. Education and other services are very limited. Even though there is a large deaf population in Guatemala, basic training in sign language isn’t always accessible. To fill this void and share the gospel with the Deaf a family moved to Guatemala to be missionaries for the Deaf. They have opened a school and led many deaf students to salvation.

With your help I'll be able to work along side this family to serve the deaf in Jutiapa and provide Bible training through many of the visual resources they use with kids. The team will also be working with a nearby church to put on an outreach to kids in the area. The students range in age from 5 to 35 years old. Future plans include a Deaf Bible College, an orphanage and a home for unwed deaf pregnant women.

I feel like the Lord has been preparing me to work with the Deaf all my life. What a great chance to work with the Deaf then doing so while helping share the gospel! The money raised goes towards food, housing, transportation, medical insurance, t-shirt, most ministry supply that I will need and the flights. Please help me get to Guatemala so I can help those deaf individuals that need the help!
