Keep Darren Safe and Successful in Kenya
Donation protected
My friend Darren is a puppeteer, juggler, and all-around adventurous performer. Right now he is in Nairobi, Kenya, putting together a program that teaches men about sexual responsibility--using puppetry. The goal is to control the spread of HIV/AIDS through education. Darren is doing great work. He has found a crew of dedicated puppeteers (Newrobi Puppeteers) who share his vision. Together, Darren and the Newrobi Puppeteers have already expanded and developed their program into a popular teaching tool.
Darren's Facebook posts are incredibly interesting. Nairobi is a great city, but it is often dangerous for a tall white guy such as Darren. Thievery is always a problem, but the biggest villains of all seem to be the police. They are constantly pulling Darren over and attempting to extract money from him.
The best defense he has is to document as much of his experience as possible--on video. Additionally, Newrobi Puppeteers would like to produce a television show, and they need gear. He needs video cameras and storage capacity. I am putting together a modest fundraiser to get Darren two flip cameras and two external harddrives. Can you help fund my project to keep Darren safe and help him produce a television program documenting his experience?
