Disability Coffee Morning

There are times when things do get to me; today was one of those days.
Whilst at a charity - DRC - I was invited to attend a coffee morning for disabled people. These are regular people who live their lives with a disability.
Whilst sipping on my coffee I got talking to Wendy. She has had MS for 30 years. I wanted to know her, know what her life is like. She told me that before the coffee morning, she felt lost. Her condition has worsened and as a result she became isolated, depressed and anxious; she had gone into herself. But since the DRC coffee morning, she has something to look forward too. Like every other person there.
At this centre, where 30 people meet on a Wednesday morning, they get together sip tea and eat biscuits. They don't come to talk about anything specific, but just talk. They get together as friends to support each other, like a community should do.
There are all walks of life in there, but they all have one thing in common; they have a disability. Whether it be MS, people scared by cancer, spinabifida, depression, tourettes, autism; the list goes on. But, they are all brought together by one common value, they have a disability.
You know what made me sad? This life changing and in some cases life saving simple coffee morning had it's funding cut. They have no money to run it. So they pull together what pennies they can to make sure they can all meet up on a Wednesday. They don't even have money to buy bloody biscuits!
