The communities of Glendale and Middle Village have joined together to form the Glendale/Middle Village Coalition.
The coalition was formed to unite residents, civic groups and business organizations to prevent the warehousing of homeless families on Cooper Avenue. This shelter/warehouse will have a major impact on our communities including, but not limited to overwhelming our already overburdened schools in District 24. Many residents feel that this site would be better suited as a school complex to relieve the overcrowding in our existing schools in the district. Unfortunately, our voices have not been heard.
Because of the impact on the infrastructure and community facilities we have met with an attorney and raised over $65,000 for legal fees in an effort to protect our community, but that is not enough. Our goal is $130,000. Many residents have asked what they can do to help. Please consider making a contribution to support our efforts. Any amount will be appreciated.
