A Medical Service Dog for Cole.

Cole is 3 years old, turning 4 in November. On June 13th of this year, our lives changed drastically when he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (also known as Juvenile Diabetes). Unlike Type 2 Diabetes, Cole is insulin dependent and will be for life. Cole is also Hypogylcemic Unaware, which means he is unable to tell when his sugars are dropping, no matter how low they get. This is highly problematic and can become a life threatening issue. One of the ways available to assist people with this type of challenge is through the use of a medical service dog.

We are working with a registered charity by the name of Sweet Charity (Registration number: 82238 5035 RR0001) to place a medical assistance dog with Cole. The cost to train this type of dog is over $10,000. Sweet Charity fundraises and covers a portion of the expense, and the family's portion is $5,000. We are hoping to cover some of this cost through various fundraisers.

In the event that a surplus of funds is raised, Sweet Charity will hold it in trust for another family that may need financial assistance in obtaining a service dog. 

We are so very grateful for the amazing generosity of everyone who participates in this effort.  We also recognize that it is not feasible for everyone to participate financially and are equally grateful for the incredible outpouring of love and support that we have reveived and continued to receive.
