MY CANCER FUND
Thank you for taking the time to come to my Go Fund Me Page and read my story.
My name is Maggie Baqaeen and I am a recent learner of having CANCER. I am a 38 year old single mom whom is a hard worker of two jobs. During the day I drive a school bus and in the evening I am a Driver’s Education Instructor. In September I knew that I was having some sight issues in my right eye and with my physical coming up in October I figured I would go ahead and get an eye appt. to so that if I needed glasses I would have them made in enough time for my physical. Well I did that and as I was in the middle of the eye exam the doctor explained to me that she needed to refer me to a specialist for reasons of she could see that there was something in the eye and she was not at liberty to say what it was. Scared to death I have to leave and wait for the following day to come so I can go to Nashville to see this specialist. The specialist schedules two separate days of 4 hour appointments for testing on my eye. Well after all is said and done I learn that I have a large Malignant Neoplasm in the middle of my eye as well as CANCER Cells sitting on the lens of my right eye. In everyone’s eye there is a barrier that sits behind your lens for protection of the lens. Unfortunally in my case the Tumor I have that sits directly in the middle of my eye ball has removed that barrier. The fluid that is sitting on my lens is CANCER cells that are leaking out of the Tumor. This is what is causing my eye sight to be a problem. As we all can imagine sitting in a doctor’s office and hearing that you have CANCER. In learning this, the specialist has put me on medical leave from both of my jobs for I cannot drive using my CDL with not having full use of my right eye. My main job is driving the school bus and that is where I carry my medical insurance and my second job is only part time so I do not get benefits from it. We have a Law here that states if placed on Medical Leave the employer has to hold your position for up to 12 weeks and after the 12 week time frame the employer does not have to offer your job to you any longer. The specialist I am seeing cannot put a time frame to return to work for this is CANCER and no person can determine what happens from here as well as the time frame it will take to treat and manage this. This is still in September keep in mind. In November my 12 weeks will end. I am scared. I carry my insurance through my employment. Upon speaking with them I have the option for 3 months after I am let go to carry the insurance but will pay out of pocket full cost which is $1400 a month. After the 3 months is up I am dropped from the insurance and I have to go find my own elsewhere. Now with that said one is who can afford a insurance rate of $1400 a month and two where am I going to find an insurance company that will take me knowing I have CANCER. This really has me in a bad position. That is why I am here asking for the Angels (to include you) to help me. This is no easy road that I have to travel and in knowing that I have to fight this yet alone, and be strong for my children really takes a toll on me. I have lost some many sleepless nights trying to find the answer to this. Going forward as of today my specialist and I have discussed different plans of action for treatment which to me doesn’t seem like it is fast enough. My specialist explained that there are steps in treating this type of CANCER but with the size of the TUMOR in my eye we need to bypass a few of these steps for he doesn’t feel that they would be affective. Our plan of action was to start with a treatment of radiation in which we did on the 26th of September. Depending on the outcome of the radiation treatment is where we shall go next. Options at that point are chemo therapy, another round of radiation, or taking our chances of losing my eye quicker and going to the operating table. Keep in mind as time goes on I am getting closer and closer to November in which is where I will have to either pay for insurance ( in which I do not have the funds for ) or lose it. Folks please know that I need your help. I am in a bad place that I am going to overcome because I am a fighter and have 3 children that need their mother here with them but I do need your help to continue to give me the strength I need to fight. I am overwhelmed with already getting bills from my specialist for the treatments and visits that my insurance will not cover. I am starting to drown in everyday living expenses and with the medical bills that are coming in now. I do not know what happens from here. I am scared of what is next. I ask please that if you can help in any way please do. Your kindness will not be under seen. Please help me to spread my story with your friends and family for I am always the giver but for once in my life I have to turn the tables and ask for your help. Please pray for me and know in my heart I am very thankful for you taking the time to come and read my story.
