Build a School in Nepal

Donation protected
After 5 years of travel and work in Nepal, it's time to begin this first project to improve the conditions for the Nepali. Education is the answer and grassroot assistance is the solution.
The physical design and condition of public schools is very different from schools in developed countries. Schools are built in "˜motel' fashion as long, narrow buildings. Each room is approximately 5m x 7m and has 2-3 windows which are simply holes in the wall with no glass. There is one entrance which is a standard single door frame (with no actual door). Children are seated on long benches with a narrow desk top. The average class size is 50 students. The walls are plaster, mud or cowdung depending on the region. A portion of the "˜front' wall is painted black so teachers can write on it with chalk. Due to these cramped, dull conditions teachers have traditionally taught in a rote learning method, with memorization and recitation.
I've chosen an area on the outskirts of Kathmandu. The existing school is VERY basic (as described above) and many of the children are from lower castes (which means they are the last to receive assistance from anyone).

I have a VISION to build a school full of colour, sunshine and motivated teachers who have the resources to help these kids get the education that will improve the lives of their families and their community.

Can't make a large donation in one lump sum? No problem. Contribute a few times and your total will be used for the reward levels. THANK YOU!
