Bridging the Educational Gap is a program to help move high-promise West African girls beyond the unintended financial and educational consequences of the Ebola epidemic.
Already living in a poverty-stricken country, West African families’ incomes have been decimated due to the Ebola epidemic. Many families will have no means of sending their girls back to school.
The only hope for these girls to go back to school is to earn their own money. Without market-legitimate skills they usually have one of two options to generate an income – prostitution or finding a “sugar daddy” with whom they live and trade sexual favors and housework for fees for their education. Either way has an adverse psychological affect on these girls and they often having to drop out of school because they become pregnant.
Bridging the Educational Gap will provide training in:
· A market appropriate skill,
· Business, marketing, and use of available technology, and
· Opening and maintaining a digital bank account.
All girls who meet the program’s outcomes will receive one-year of free school tuition.
In addition, each girl will have the opportunity to participate in the marketplace and become part of a social network to help build sustainability.
Your donation in 2015 will help us change the lives of eight (8) high promise West African teenage girls now out of school. Help this first Bridge Group cross the opportunity gap.
