My half-brother, Brian David Braun, died suddenly on 9/20/14, at his mother's home in Port Charlotte, FL leaving behind a 12 year old daughter Caroline. It was Brian's (and also is Caroline's) wish that Danny and I would take Caroline in to live with us in KY and raise her, if anything ever happened to him. However, Brian did not leave any legal papers behind- no money, no real estate property. He did not make any legal or financial arrangements for Caroline.
Brian and Caroline live(d) with Brian's mother Anne Braun. She had been married to my father, who passed away suddenly in 1989. Anne subsequently remarried. Anne knows that it was Brian and Caroline's wish for Danny and I to raise her if he died. I have been trying to work with Anne to make the transition for Caroline. I cannot transport Caroline to KY, nor can I enroll her in school here without legal papers. We have been unable to find necessary paperwork in research. In the meantime, I have had to leave Caroline living with Anne, in limbo waiting for me to take action. Many of you are acquainted with Anne Braun.
This has been going on for 3 weeks now.
We love Caroline and want her to live with us in KY, closer to relatives and in a stable, safe environment.
To retain a lawyer, I will need money. Danny and I are on limited incomes and do not have the extra funds to pay for legal counsel. We are going to need the help of our friends, as well as Brian's, and our families to figure out this legal quagmire and to get Caroline to the home she wants to be in to continue her life without her father.
