Sarasota's Bay Haven School of Basics Plus competed in the 32nd annual Florida State Odyssey of the Mind Tournament in Orlando at the UCF campus with teams from around the state on April 9, 2016.
Imam Berche, Uli Saetre, Casey Scolardi, Scarlett Urban, Brinlee Vandendooren, Benjamin Vieira and Nolan Welch make up Bay Haven's team advancing to the World Finals in Ames, Iowa at Iowa State University. Their team held 705 pounds with their 15 gram balsawood structure in the Stack Attack problem.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international competition in which teams of students compete to solve age appropriate problems by exercising creativity and using their knowledge and skills to reach solutions with "style". Odyssey of the Mind is a combination of technology and artistry, competition and cooperation, risk-taking and research!

Over 800 teams from around the world will compete in the 37th Annual Odyssey of the Mind World Finals. The competition emphasizes creativity and teamwork and has grown into the largest international creative problem-solving competition worldwide. Our kids will represent Florida as the best of the best in creative minds. At World Finals, teams have the chance to learn about other cultures through a common goal.

Bay Haven School of Basics Plus is now preparing to travel to the WORLD FINALS and represent the state of Florida. The team needs to raise roughly $12,000 to help cover travel, accommodations, competition fee and transportation cost. For each child, roughly $2,000 is expected to be raised.
