Provide a Home for Rescued Animals

We are the Friends of the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary, dedicated to enriching the lives of the animals living at the sanctuary facility. This is not your typical zoo! Our rescued domestic and wild animal residents come to live here for a variety of reasons: they’re orphaned, have sustained life-threatening injuries, were illegal or discarded pets, or victims of abuse or neglect. The zoo sanctuary provides a caring, forever home for these
amazing creatures.
Our Barnyard Experience project is an exciting opportunity to provide a safe and comfortable forever home for our rescued farm animals including Gus the draft horse, Dasher the miniature horse, Hallie and Rosie the miniature donkeys, and Ernie the Zebu. Additional rescues will come to live at the barn in the future. Trusty livestock guardian dogs Marcus and Annabelle will keep a watchful eye on their barnyard charges.The Barnyard Experience will also help us to further our mission of teaching responsible behavior toward all animals through interactive and fun learning opportunities for visitors of all ages.
Here’s where you come in: with the help of compassionate animal lovers like you, we are seeking $100,000 to purchase perimeter and pasture fencing. Gus, Dasher, Ernie, and the rest of the gang can’t move into the new 3,400 square foot barn until the fencing is built! Once this project is funded, the local community will rally around to provide volunteer labor to build much of the fencing.
Rest assured that 100% of the money raised toward our goal of $100,000 will be used exclusively to purchase fencing for the Barnyard Experience. Any funds raised in excess of our goal will continue to enhance the lives of the barnyard animals with nutritious food, comfortable bedding, and veterinary care.
