Backpacks For Baltimore: A Crowdfunding Initiative for KLBB’s 4th Annual Back to School Festival

The Issue:
Our children are the future of Baltimore and a proper education is the key to better opportunities for them –- the key to a Better Baltimore!

However every year, families of the less fortunate and underprivileged youth are unable to afford some of the basic necessities for their child’s academic success.

The Solution:
Enter Kevin Liles For a Better Baltimore Foundation (KLBB) (Our Mission). In 2012, KLBB made history by hosting the first ever city wide Back to School Festival. The purpose of the event was to bring kids and families together and celebrate the new school year throughout town.

Last year, KLBB distributed over 6,000 backpacks to students in the Baltimore area and this year we aim to exponetially increase that amount! Check out past festival videos and photos here.

In an effort to reach this goal we decided to start our first ever GoFundMe campaign in connection with the festival that is geared to providing backpacks for our city's youth.
The Impact: A new backpack to start the year can amount to a badge of honor for underprivileged students. It’s important to KLBB and the City of Baltimore that our children get each year off to a strong start. These new backpacks will bolster their attitude and ultimately create a solid foundation for their academic and social performance.

Our Goal:
Through our 30-day 'Backpacks For Baltimore' campaign, our goal is to raise $30,000 to help provide our students (Pre-K to 12th grade) with 7,500 brand new backpacks to get a fresh start to the 2015-2016 school year.
