Samantha Kirkwood Medical Fund

It is with great sadness that I have to post this request for donations.   Seven month old baby Samantha Kirkwood was taken to the hospital last week after having difficulty breathing.  Craig and Katie thought it was merely a cold, but were given the devastating news that Sam has a large tumor taking up the entire left side of her chest.  The doctors will be performing a biopsy tomorrow and we are all praying for good news.  However, even if the tumor is benign, Sam is going to require surgery to have the tumor removed and is looking at a lengthy hospital stay.  Sam is also looking at a 6 week recovery time after surgery.  

Craig has about 6 weeks of paid leave through the Public Defender's Office, but unfortunately Katie is going to have to use FMLA leave and will not get paid for any time she takes off.  I am hoping that all of you will donate whatever you can so that Katie can stay with Sam in the hospital.  We don't want Katie to have to worry about anything other than taking care of Sam.

As most of you know, Katie and Craig moved Heaven and Earth to have Sam.  They suffered through numerous miscarriages, including the loss of a child at 35 weeks, before they had Sam.  After exhausting their financial resources, Sam was born with the help of a surrogate 7 months ago.

It is an understatement to say that this family has had to withstand more than anyone ever should.  Please help make their lives a little easier now and please pray for Sam's speedy recovery.
