The Barefoot Hawaiian to represent Chicago at Pearl Harbor
It is an honor and privilege to announce that The Barefoot Hawaiian, Inc. has been invited to participate in the “2015 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade 1941 – Musical Salute to the 70th Anniversary of the end of WWII” in Honolulu, Hawaii.
On February 5, 2015, Gwen Kennedy, the owner and founder of The Barefoot Hawaiian, Inc. received the following email:
Barefoot Hawaiian Staff,
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to reach out to you on behalf of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade Committee. We would like to extend the invitation to you and the team at The Barefoot Hawaiian to join us in the
2015 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii. The parade takes place on the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor invasion, December 7. We hope you would be in a position to accept this invitation.
2015 will mark the 74th Anniversary of the "day that will live in infamy" - the attack on Pearl Harbor. This year will also commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the end of WWII. Perhaps unlike any moment in our modern history, Americans felt the call of duty to help preserve the freedoms we enjoy in this great country. The sacrifices that were made by so many should be cherished, honored and never forgotten.
Your group will make a wonderful and entertaining addition to the parade. We would love to see you on the islands!
In Gwen's own words "This is now the most honorable request in my career." The Barefoot Hawaiian has been in operation 33 years, this July, 2015. Many of Gwen's family members have served and are presently serving our country which makes this opportunity even dearer to her heart.
We need help in raising the funds to make it possible for our team to make this journey. Please help us reach our goal, so that we can show our support for our service men and women and the Vets and families who in any way witnessed the Pearl Harbor attack, December 7th, 1941.
