The Blues needs a resuscitation and you can help. Austin Blues All-Stars is not just a band, it's a movement of an unlimited number of skilled players who are dedicated to interpreting, performing, and promoting Blues music, in order to preserve the American Blues tradition for future generations worldwide.
Although I launched Austin Blues All-Stars in 2013 by playing in Austin clubs with a small host band, this project represents my initial idea to produce a documentary film of the history of Austin Blues Music around an Austin Blues All-Stars Concert, filmed at a large venue.
Inspired by Scorsese's "The Last Waltz," which I attended as guest of The Band and watched from the production booth, the Austin Blues All-Stars Concert will be a 4-hour, non-stop Blues revue with fifteen or more headliners, singing 2-3 songs each, with a rotating back-line of thirty players and no set changes.
We have started filming interviews and preparing the documentary footage, as we confirm a venue, put together the line-up and crews, script the show, formulate a promotion campaign, and plenty other stuff.
Austin Blues All-Stars Concert Film will be an inspiration for all. Your generous support will provide the funds for artists, stage crews, audio and video recording equipment, photographers, lighting, music equipment rental, rehearsal space, and more. Help make this happen. Let's keep the Blues alive and honor our roots!
Matthew Robinson adds: "Blues has faltered here and we've got to fix that. Everybody who cares about the Blues, or plays the Blues, or a fan of the Blues needs to come together and build this thing up. It's not going to die, but we shouldn't let it slow down either. I'm not saying this in a demanding type of way, it's just been a long time."
All artists will share net profits of all products from this project, directly proportional to their performance in Austin Blues All-Stars Concert Film.
