Ashley McIntyre and Family in Need

This fundraiser is for 25 year old Ashley McIntyre. Last Spring Ashley and her fiancé Michael Makowski were blessed with the delivery of a beautiful baby boy. Ashley gave birth to Oliver Michael Makowski on March 3, 2014 and then, approximately 3 weeks later, Ashley went to the hospital for a minor surgery and the doctors discovered Ashley had a large cancerous tumor. Ashley was diagnosed with a rather aggressive form of Liposarcoma. Within the last year Ashley has had numerous hospitalizations at both St Vincent's Hospital and Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NY. Ashley has underwent chemotherapy at St Vincent's followed by major surgery and then radiation at Sloan. The radiation treatments left Ashley very sick and very weak and lead to infections and pneumonia in which she lost a lot of weight and was unable to enjoy quality time with her baby which devastated Ashley. She has spent more time in the hospital than she has at home. Ashley has been very courageous but this illness has been too much on her body. Sadly Ashley's doctors do not have any more treatments to offer Ashley because the cancer has spread and it's all too much for her to fight off.
As you can imagine this is extremely hard and so tragic for Ashley and Michaels families. Between the costs for medical care, transportation to and from NY, cost of raising and caring for Oliver as well as Ashley it has left them financially overwhelmed. Her fiancé Michael and her family have of course missed time and wages to be with Ashley and the bills continue to pile up. It's unfair for them all. I wish there was more support offered by employers, insurance companies and even the government. But sadly we have to ask our community and the kindness of both friends and family and even caring strangers? These poor families should be able to solely concentrate on the time they have left with Ashley. Not a growing financial burden.
If if you have the resources to help this family it will be greatly appreciated by both the McIntyre and Makowski families. If you can not afford to help it is completely understandable though we ask that you share Ashley's story so if there are others out there with the resources, they can possibly help.
